Abba

“What is the value of your soul to God? Could your worth be defined by any amount of money? God doesn’t abandon or forget even the small sparrow he has made. How then could he forget or abandon you? What about the seemingly minor issues of your life? Do they matter to God? Of course they do! So you never need to worry, for you are more valuable to God than anything else in this world.”

(Luke 12:6-7, TPT)

Friends, today as I sat with Jesus over this passage of Scripture in my ‘Lectio Divina’ time (btw, if you have not yet been introduced to this practice, I highly recommend you googling some information on it, you won’t regret it, I promise!) I felt a tender, gentle reminder from Abba’s heart to soak in the Truth that I am hugely valued and eternally worthy in His sight. He looks at me with the deepest affection in His heart, a huge smile on His lips and a pure delight in His eyes.

Hmnn…

So I have made up my mind.

That that’s really the only thing that is going to define me.

The Love of my Father, my Heavenly Dad.

A love so deep, profound and faithful that it will never leave me nor forsake me. It will never abandon me. It promises to be eternally true to me –

To be with me, to fight for me, to make a way for me.

Always and forever.

And should you let me speak some Truth over you today, He is the same for you too.

A doting, hands-on Father who is intimately involved in the details of your life.

You are His child, beloved – sought after, precious, valued, cared for, wanted, needed, esteemed, honored, fought for.

And though man may fail you, Jesus never will.

He calls you beautiful, bold, fearless, wise, strong, courageous.

He enfolds you within His loving embrace and calls you His own – His image bearer in the earth and His chosen one.

And no.

We don’t deserve it. We couldn’t have earned it.

But it is a grace-gift and the Bible says that Abba gives good gifts to His children.

🎁

So I’m learning to receive this uncomon grace, friend in a way so free and trusting that it lets my Heavenly Dad know –

“I love you right back, Abba. I love you right back.”

In the middle.

Seasons of waiting find us caught in the middle. In the middle of promise released and promise realised. In the middle of the valley and the promised land. In the middle of process initiated and purpose fulfilled.

In the middle.

It’s a place that helps us understand that though the joy of an answered prayer is indisputably sacred, we cannot tether the joy of our very being to it. For our joy is found in our relational journey with Christ, above all else. It’s in the conversations we have along the way. It’s in the moments where we feel impatient and His Peace that transcends human understanding overtakes us. It’s in the times when He fills the space in between with resolute affirmations of His Love that win our heart and trust over to Him, every single time.

This post stems right out of my reading this evening that The Holy Spirit joyfully interrupted with His heartening revelation. As I share, I hope He speaks to you too;

“Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure,
feasting on his faithfulness.
Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life,
and He will provide for you what you desire the most.” (Psalm 37, 3-4; The Passion Translation)

Having looked up the synonyms of “delight,” here are some that caught my attention:
Glee, contentment, joy and satisfaction.

The Psalmist here encourages us to find our delight, our joy, our contentment in God Himself, with the full assurance that He will provide all that we need in ways that perhaps as of now, we cannot even fathom. For the God we serve is not our caretaker, He is a Good Good Father, who in turn, delights in giving good good gifts to His Children. He doesn’t just meet our needs, He fills us to the overflow. He isn’t content with giving us bare minimum to simply make it through, He is The God of Breakthrough.

He is The One who goes ahead and makes ways for us that serve as an incontestable evidence of His Hand upon our lives. Like water breaking through a dam is His Power and Might at work on our behalf. The work He starts, He promises to bring to completion. For that is who HE is:

“The Alpha and Omega.”

My own story and journey in Christ has seen Him even saturate the space between the two. It’s this space where I have begun to learn that He will never leave me nor forsake me. It’s this space where I have begun to realise that I’m loved too deeply and too dearly to ever be let down. It’s this space where I am growing in my revelation knowledge of who My Father is and what it means for me, to be His Child.

It’s a space where when I determine to read from Psalm 37, He unexpectedly comes forth with yet another revelation from His Heart to mine, a stunning reminder that grounds me in the reality of my journey with Christ, a journey that is defined by Love and shall prayerfully remain anchored in the power thereof.

So friends, as the sun sets on yet another day, yet another grace gift from God, I hope that regardless of what The Lord has us waiting upon Him for, we will find our joy, our glee, our contentment, our satisfaction and our supreme delight in The Person before the present, The Giver before the gift and The Blessor before the blessing; with a declaration in sync with the heart of Heaven that remains etched out in our hearts,

“We joyfully expect You to come through, but our delight remains in You.”
